Confused and unsure
We’re not quite sure where we stand.
I know his stance, but
Does he know mine.
One part of me says how cruel it is
The other sees the necessity of it.
Neither likes to see suffering
My work requires it to
Better understand
Extremists destroy our ability
To provide cures.
Will he understand
How will I explain.
My friends think I am
This way because of my beliefs
When in reality, it is
because I can’t tolerate it.
His lifestyle is based upon
His own set of values.
Will one set of values be shared.
Can an understanding be found.
Common ground will fill the divide.
